Your Source for Security
Information
As your Credit Union, we want to protect you, your financial assets, and the confidentiality of your personal information. More and more news reports are revealing how unscrupulous individuals are busy developing new scams every day for the unsuspecting
public. The best way to protect yourself against fraud and scams is to be an educated consumer.
Financial institutions across the country are reporting a new scam that combines fraudulent text and/or calls and phone spoofing in an effort to gather personal information. Many of these fraudulent text messages and phone calls are appearing as if they are coming from the financial institution asking the member to verify information or purchases by providing credit card information and by entering a series of numbers on your phone. Though they may seem legitimate, this is a scam and fraudsters are spoofing the number so it appears as if it is coming from the financial institution.
Please remember, no one from Corning Credit Union will ever ask you for your PIN, the 3-digit security code on the back of your credit or debit card, or any other personal information either over the phone or through a text message. We will NEVER ask you to enter or text any number or code in your phone.
