Summer Interns-Seasonal Member Service Representatives

Location: Corning, NY and Wilmington, NC area

Corning Credit Union (CCU) is currently seeking eager and talented individuals to join the organization for paid summer internships and seasonal support roles. Roles vary but include Member Service Representatives (Tellers) and various financial processing support functions.

Ideal candidates are those currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, data analytics, or mathematics; however, other majors will also be considered. CCU will work with colleges to ensure your experience meets program requirements and focuses on technical and interpersonal skill development. 

    All roles require:

    Consumer Loan Officer

    Commercial Loan Officer

    Location: Corning, NY

    Corning Credit Union continues to expand its operations in Corning, NY and is seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Officer to grow our business lending portfolio. 

    What you'll do:

    • Develop a commercial loan pipeline by utilizing the LOS (loan origination system) and CRM (customer relationship manager) to create loans, maintain your loan pipeline and loan portfolio, while building a strong overall banking relationships with our members.
    • Originate commercial loan applications and underwrite loans within your approval authority.
    • Prepare and present loan packages to the Member Business Loan Committee.
    • Collect and analyze tax returns, personal financial statements, balance sheets, etc.
    • Work closely with the Credit Analysts and administrators to maintain an effective and cohesive team.
    • Maintain and expand current lending relationships through annual relationship reviews and cross-sale opportunities.
    • Build and sustain knowledge and understanding of businesses and industries in the area.
    • Stay abreast of local and national trends and regulations impacting business members and the commercial lending industry.
    • Participate in community events and network with various associations and trade groups to build our brand and drive the business forward as needed.

    The successful candidate:

    • Has a background in commercial or business lending, with at least 3 years of experience as a commercial loan officer.
    • Is engaging and possesses exceptional communication, relationship building, and sales skills with the ability to build trust and foster viable, profitable relationships.
    • Possesses strong negotiation, problem solving, and analytical skills and demonstrates strong detail orientation and follow-through.
    • Maintains exceptional flexibility and is capable of managing multiple deals and meeting with members at their convenience.
    • Consistently presents oneself with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.

    Training and Development Specialist

    Location: Corning, NY area

    Corning Credit Union is seeking a Training and Development Specialist to assist in setting and executing the vision and strategies for team development across the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience with instructional design methodologies and the ability to effectively research and align multi-faceted learning solutions that support our team and business infrastructure.  

    Job Duties:

    • Serve as a strategic partner to leadership across the organization in identifying knowledge gaps and effective solutions for talent management.
    • Conduct needs analysis, produce project plans, and play a lead role in developing training programs, performance support tools, and key resources for the team.
    • Research learning environments and technologies and create blended learning options that align with technology and support our business infrastructure.
    • Assist in the oversight of learning content, auditing existing materials and creating new materials and programs that adapt to evolving learner needs.
    • Meet with trainers and subject matter experts to ensure quality and consistency within training programs.
    • Build relationships with key stakeholders across all departments and support training by identifying and communicating goals, objectives, and results.
    • Research and implement industry techniques to increase the facilitation and effectiveness of training.
    • Develop and deliver train-the-trainer programs and assess facilitator performance, providing coaching and guidance in the delivery of training.
    • Measure and analyze trainee performance and implement new programs or techniques, as needed, to increase productivity and improve performance.
    • Leverage various learning methodologies and techniques to drive engagement and retention including digital learning, adult learning theory, and experiential learning.
    • Analyze data related to the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvement, as necessary. 
    • Also assumes responsibility for other projects or duties as required or assigned.

    Education and Experience:

    • A bachelor’s degree in adult education or learning development is preferred. Learning and development certifications or commensurate work experience will also be considered.
    • 5+ years of experience in learning and development, 2+ years of experience training in the finance or credit union industry preferred.
    • Experience working with a variety of Learning Management Systems and content editing tools desired.

    Senior Accounting Analyst

    Location: Corning, NY, Greater Wilmington, NC, and Myrtle Beach, SC area; remote work with some travel will also be considered in NY, PA, NC, SC, GA, and TX

    Corning Credit Union is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining processes for the recording, reporting, and reconciliation of our purchased/sold loan portfolio and indirect lending. This position is also responsible for participation remittance reporting and budgeting and backtesting of general operational GL's (non-product and non-salary) and building the capital budget. The nature of this position requires regular communication with all levels of leadership.

    Job Duties:

    • Establish processes for the recording, reporting, and reconciliation of the purchased/sold loan portfolio including entries for discount/premium amortization/accretion, servicing rights, and allowance.
    • Reviews and analyzes loan sales portfolios including the preparation and reconciliation of all accounting transactions.
    • FMAC (mortgage loans sold to the secondary market) reconciliation.
    • Recording, reconciliation, reporting, and tracking of held for sale and all sold loans.
    • Budgeting and backtesting of general operational GL's (non-product and non-salaries).
    • Prepares capital budget for review by financial analyst and controller.
    • Backup to controller for CECL review and analysis.
    • Provides support to controller and financial analyst roles and is backup to month end accountant for closing and financial reporting.
    • Completes peer review of month reporting and regulatory reporting.
    • Takes initiative to improve processes and operational efficiencies.
    • Assists with and/or leads accounting projects as necessary.
    • Also assumes responsibility for other duties or projects as required or assigned.

    Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    • Keen attention to detail.
    • Exceptional organizational skills - schedules and prioritizes multiple tasks in an orderly, timely and effective manner.

    • Possesses an innate ability to see the big picture along with necessary details.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree with a major or concentration in Accounting.
    • At least 5 years of solid financial analyst experience required. Experience working in a financial institution is preferred. Experience with accounting processes, operational budgeting, creating various financial reports, and analyzing financial data required.
