Are you looking to take the next step in your education or career path?

The StraightTalk® Association for Financial Empowerment (SAFE) offers an annual scholarship opportunity to its members and the members of Corning Credit Union. Whether your goal is to focus on higher education, enlist, or anything in between, applications are accepted each spring.

Each year, the StraightTalk® Association for Financial Empowerment (SAFE) awards up to $20,000 in scholarships to hard-working individuals looking to further their education or career. Ideal candidates value and make contributions toward:

  • Helping people
  • Serving the underserved
  • Making an impact in and giving back to their community

Program Eligibility

The SAFE Scholarship Program is open to any SAFE member or Corning Credit Union member who is in good standing and over the age of 16. The member must have established plans to take the next step in their education, development, or career, including vocational studies and/or military enrollment. Please be advised that identification, signature, and proof of enrollment or acceptance will be required before any award is distributed.

Emma Bailey
Emma displays an amazing drive to help her community and has been heavily involved in volunteer work in hospital, elder care, and clothing drive settings. She plans to enroll in a speech language pathologist program. Congratulations, Emma!

Andrew Bo
Andrew has proven his desire to help his local community by completing over 100 hours of volunteer work at the Food Bank between grade 5 and graduating high school. Additionally, he participates in several extracurriculars including his school’s debate team. He will be enrolling in a science honors program. Congratulations, Andrew!

Michael DeMeritt
Michael aims to serve his community through providing quality healthcare. For the past decade, he’s served those around him in various medical laboratory roles, including as lead technologist. He is actively working towards his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree. Congratulations, Michael!

James Gensel
James shows terrific self-motivation through his involvement in numerous extracurricular and volunteer opportunities for many years. He plans to pursue degrees in computer science and bioinformatics. Congratulations, James!

Traci Johnson
Traci exemplifies her desire is to help people thrive and ensure that they have the greatest chances of success. She intends to provide physical, mental, and occupational wellness services to members of the US Armed Forces. Congratulations, Traci!

Autumn Skillman
Autumn lives out her desire to better her community through her work as a music teacher in the public school system. During the pandemic, she took her classes entirely online and ensured as smooth a transition as possible for her students. She is actively working towards her MM in music education. Congratulations, Autumn!

Analeigh Urbina
Analeigh’s goal is to serve her community in the healthcare field. She has been involved in many volunteer opportunities and extracurriculars, including a medstart camp where she increased her knowledge of positions in the healthcare field. She will be pursuing a degree in nursing. Congratulations, Analeigh!

Ismael Urbina
Ismael has proven his desire to help those around him through his actions as a nurse specializing in cardiovascular intensive care. He is actively working towards a doctorate of nursing practice degree so as to improve the health and wellbeing of those in his community. Congratulations, Ismael!

Isabella Voorhees
Isabella aims to serve those around her as a surgeon. She has been heavily involved in medical programs for several years, including attending events such as the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth summer program and the National Academy of Future Physicians' Congress for Future Medical Leaders. She is pursuing a degree in pre-health, with a minor in society and policy. Congratulations, Isabella!
